Why Texas’ Steve Sarkisian Said He Has His ‘Work Cut Out’ to Prepare For Oklahoma’s Defense
The Texas head coach was complimentary of the work Brent Venables has done to improve Oklahoma’s defense since last year’s Red River Rivalry.

Steve Sarkisian got the best of Brent Venables a year ago.

Texas embarrassed Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl, gaining 585 yards in the Longhorns’ 49-0 rout of the Sooners.

And while the win erased the bad taste of OU’s 21-point comeback from the previous Red River Rivalry, Sarkisian knows points won’t come so easy in Saturday’s top 12 clash.

“Coach Venables, he’d been doing it too long at too high of a level to think they weren’t going to get that thing fixed,” Sarkisian said during his weekly press conference on Monday. “I told you last year that he would.”
