Why Oklahoma is ‘Excited’ For the ‘Great Challenge’ Texas QB Quinn Ewers Presents

Oklahoma coach Brent Venables is impressed with the growth of Texas’ Quinn Ewers since the Sooners and the Longhorns last took the field in the Cotton Bowl.

NORMAN — Quinn Ewers will be playing with plenty of confidence in this year’s Red River Rivalry.

Not only did he get to experience the Cotton Bowl cauldron in last year’s romp, but Ewers is playing his best football in a Texas uniform entering Saturday’s top 12 battle.

So far this year, Ewers is completing 66 percent of his passes, throwing for 1,358 yards, 10 touchdowns and just one interception.

Last week, he threw his long interception of the year in No. 3 Texas’ 40-14 win over Kansas, snapping a streak of 245 consecutive passes without tossing a pick.
