The top ranked Oklahoma Sooners will travel to Stillwater this weekend to face the Cowgirls in a three-day bedlam softball series.
The series starts on Friday at 6 p.m. and you can listen here on 107.7 the franchise. Saturday’s game starts at 4 p.m. and the final game will be on Sunday at 2p.m.
The sixth ranked cowgirls will look to bounce back after having lost 7 of their last 9, including a 5-1 loss to unranked North Texas.
The number one ranked Sooners will not make it easy on the cowgirls, considering the fact that their pitchers have a combined ERA of 0.80. Oklahoma also has double the home runs that Oklahoma state has this season with 88 compared to the cowgirls 44.
Oklahoma has a team batting average of .377 with the Cowgirls not far behind, averaging .330 as a team. The Sooner’s Jayda Coleman leads the team with a .454 batting average and 13 homers this season. Rachel Becker is the leading hitter for The Cowgirls, averaging .462 with 10 homeruns.
Nevertheless, Oklahoma State will have home field advantage over their in state rivals this weekend as they look to get back on track. They will undoubtedly need help from their best pitcher, Kelly Maxwell. Maxwell owns a record of 20-5 on the season and is Oklahoma State’s number one option in the circle.
