The Texas Rangers, 74-74 overall, won two of three games against the Tampa Bay Rays, 87-61, at Globe Life Park. Texas lost game one 5-3 in 11 innings. Third baseman Nick Solak hit a two-run home run, his third, and left fielder Willie Calhoun hit a RBI double, his 12th. Reliever Emmanuel Clase earned his third lose after allowing two runs, zero earned, and striking out three in 1 2/3 innings.
Texas won game two 10-9. Second baseman Rougned Odor hit a three-run home run, his 25th, and center fielder Danny Santana hit a two-run single. Rookie Ian Gibaut earned his first MLB win after striking out one in two shutout innings and closer Jose Leclerc earned his 12th save after allowing a run and striking out two in the ninth inning.
Texas won the series finale 6-4. Solak hit a two-run home run, his fourth, and Odor hit a solo home run, his 26th. Reliever Luke Farrell earned his first win after striking out two in two shutout innings and Leclerc earned his 13th save after pitching a shutout ninth inning.
