Six Sooners Punch Tickets to Semifinals in Day One of Southern Scuffle

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The No. 19 Oklahoma wrestling program wrapped up an impressive day one of the 2024 Southern Scuffle presented by Compound Sportswear on Monday evening, as OU closed out the day in third place as a team with 77.5 points. 

The Sooners will head into day two of the Southern Scuffle with six semifinalists, which is tied for the second most among all attending teams. Oklahoma will have a total of 14 wrestlers still alive for tomorrow’s competition. 

Conrad Hendriksen was the first Sooner to punch his ticket to the semifinals after going 2-0 on the day, pinning Gardner-Webb’s Aedyn Concepcion in his first bout before defeating Indiana’s Blaine Frazier by 9-3 decision in the quarterfinals. 

At 157 pounds, Jared Hill capped off his perfect day by knocking off ranked foe Alejandro Herrera-Rondon (Clarion) in the quarterfinal round by a score of 4-2. Prior to that, Hill earned a 3-2 decision over Kolby DePron of Bucknell.
