OKLAHOMA CITY — While Sam Presti could say little to nothing about the Oklahoma City Thunder’s new draft pick, he did provide some intel on some recovering players.
According to Presti, George’s recovery is going according to plan.
“There were no surprises or anything of that nature,” Presti said at his draft presser. “Timeline-wise, we’re going to update you when we get around camp. I think we’ll have a better feel for that.
“But he’s doing well. He’s going to make a full recovery.”
George has been working out in southern California rehabbing from his surgeries. He regularly posts videos on his Instagram (@ygtrece) showcasing his rehab process.
Presti was non-committal on preiciting when George would be a healthy 100 percent for the Thunder.
“Predicting that far out right now, I think we’re better served having the most information possible,” Presti said. “Then we’ll give you the best feel we can at that point in time.”
Oklahoma City initially announced that George would “at least miss training camp” following the first surgery.
Presti’s belief is that George’s rehab will not linger on in the future. The hope from both surgeries is that George will no longer have to play through the pain.
“I don’t think we’re missing out,” Presti added. “He’s not going to have the off-season he’s had in the past, but he’s going to be healthier all-around when he does come back to the floor.”
Presti was more vague as to the status of Roberson, who is currently recovering in his hometown of San Antonio.
“He’s doing well,” Presti said. “He continues to make progress. We’ve taken a conservative approach toward the end of the season knowing we’d have this period of time in the off-season to kind of build up some momentum.”
Presti added that he had recently seen video clips of Roberson’s activity and was impressed with his progress.
