Number 13! Antonio Perkins set an NCAA record for the most punt return touchdowns with three on Sep. 20, 2003, against the UCLA Bruins. Perkins also had 277 punt return yards in the game to accompany his three touchdowns.
The Sooners began the game with the first touchdown by Renaldo Works’s 15-yard touchdown run. They led the Bruins 7-0.
Justin Medlock’s 48-yard field goal and Manuel White’s 11-yard touchdown run gave UCLA a 10-7 lead.
Oklahoma quarterback Jason White connected with Travis Wilson for a 12-yard score to give the Sooners back the lead 14-10.
Following that, Antonio returned back-to-back punts for a couple of touchdowns to extend the Sooner’s lead to 28-10 entering halftime. The first one was a 74-yarder and the other was a 84-yarder.
Jason White found Lance Donley from 22 yards for a touchdown to increase the Sooners lead to 35-10.
White threw for 243 passing yards while recording two touchdowns in the air. White also went on to win the Heisman Trophy Award in the 2003 season.
Maurice Drew’s three-yard rushing touchdown cuts the score to 35-17, but Eric Bassey’s 34-yard pick-six brings the Oklahoma lead to 25.
After that, Drew returned a 91-yard kickoff to the house slicing the score 42-24.
Works’s one-yard touchdown run and Trey Dicarlo’s 41-yard field goal gave the Sooners a 52-24 lead.
Before it was all said and done in Norman, Perkins returned his third punt for a touchdown and this one was from 65 yards to break the single-game NCAA record with the most punt returns resulting in a touchdown.
