Oklahoma State Sweeps Incarnate Word in Two-Game Series

Oklahoma State took care of business in its double-header on Saturday.

The Cowgirls scored 21 combined runs in both games against Incarnate Word, ending both games in run-rule fashion. 

OSU was dominant from the start on Saturday with a 11-0 victory in the first game. 

Kelly Maxwell got the start in the circle, giving up two hits and recording seven strikeouts in four innings pitched. Lexi Kilfoyl came in and pitched the last inning and got one strikeout in the three batters she faced.

Six of the nine OSU batters had an RBI in the first game, including three RBIs from Rachel Becker. 

Kiley Naomi got the first RBI thanks to her one-out single, scoring Becker and putting OSU up 1-0.

Chyenne Factor and Katelynn Carwile got on to start the second with a pair of singles. After Truck hit a fly-out, Megan Bloodworth came up with an RBI opportunity.

The sophomore delivered, hitting a single to center field, scoring Factor and Carwile, giving OSU 3-0 lead. 

Tallen Edwards got Bloodworth home with her line drive to center field, scoring one more for the Cowgirls.

OSU went scoreless the next two innings, but it put the hammer down in the fifth. 

Micaela Wark and Morgyn Wynne both got on to start the inning, setting up a RBI spot for Factor. 

Factor hit a screamer into center field, scoring Wark and giving OSU 5-0 lead. 

Carwile scored Wynne with her single to left field, pushing the lead to 6-0.

Becker got all of her RBIs in one swing with a one-out double to the wall, scoring three Cowgirls and making it 9-0. 

Edwards drove Becker in with her single, increasing the lead for OSU to 10-0.. 

Naomi’s double scored Edwards and gave OSU a comfortable 11-0 lead. 

Kilfoyl shut the Cardinals down in the bottom of the fifth, giving the win.

Game Two of the series was more of the same for the Cowgirls, as it got its second run-rule win of the day.

Ivy Rosenberry started the game, giving up one hit and two strikeouts in four innings pitched. Kyra Aycock came on in the fifth and shut the door on the Cardinals. 

Scoring started in the second inning with a Lexi McDonald single to center field, scoring both Factor and Carwile and giving the Cowgirls the early 2-0 lead.

Becker kept it going with a one-out single that drove McDonald home, and put the Cowgirls up 3-0. 

OSU scored another two runs in the second, ending the inning with a 5-0 lead. 

Scotland David got one run home for OSU in the third with her one-out single that scored McDonald, putting OSU up 6-0.

Wynne got things going in the fourth with her single to start the inning.

After a Katie Lott fly-out and Haidyn Sokoloski walk, the Cowgirls had runners on first and second.

Audrey Schneidmiller got Wynne home with her screamer to center field, pushing the lead to 7-0.

The Cowgirls got their final three runs in the fifth inning, including a Naomi 2-RBI double and Lotts fielder’s choice that scored Naomi, giving OSU the 10-0 victory. 

OSU gave up no runs and only three hits total from both games, ending Saturday with two commanding wins. 

The Cowgirls head to Kansas this week to play against Wichita State on Tuesday at 6 p.m., then return to Big-12 play in a three game series against Kansas, with the first game on Thursday at 5 p.m.
