Oklahoma State Earns No. 6-Overall Seed in NCAA Tournament

Oklahoma State’s run to Oklahoma City starts in Stillwater.

The Cowgirls earned the No. 6-overall seed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament on Sunday, and they’ll host a regional at Cowgirl Stadium.

OSU’s path this postseason was up in the air after their recent skid in the last month of the regular season. Oklahoma State has lost 11 of its last 13 games, including its latest, falling to Kansas on Friday in the Big 12 Tournament.

A familiar foe will be a part of the Stillwater regional this weekend. Wichita State, who has beaten OSU twice this season, is set to come to Stillwater, along with Nebraska and UMBC.

The Shockers’ main star is Sydney McKinney. She has a .519 batting average with five home runs and 32 RBIs. McKinney was recently named a top 10 finalist for 2023 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year.

Wichita State is a force to be reckoned with on offense. The Sockers are No. 5 in team batting average, including six players batting over .300 this year.

By earning a top-8 seed the Cowgirls will host a Super Regional if they advance. Should OSU win its regional, they will be paired with the winner of the Fayetteville Regional.

The 11-seeded Arkansas Razorbacks host that regional, and will take on Harvard, Notre Dame and Oregon for a spot in the Super Regionals.

The Cowgirls opening game in the regional will be on Friday at 3 p.m. against UMBC at Cowgirl Stadium. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
