After a poor offensive performance against Houston, the pressure will be on the offense and Seth Littrell to figure things out this Saturday against Tulane. Injuries have plagued the Sooner offense and offensive line which makes it hard to get anything going because of injuries upfront.
“I think as a team and as a group we need to be better. I think the offensive line showed flashes, but we need to be way better in the moment. We need to be able to execute at a high level like the standard at Oklahoma is,” said Josh Bates. “That starts with me, that starts with all five of us upfront and we need to be at our best. It’s week by week and we have to take every week the same way and come together and fix whatever we need to fix and get after and get it done.”
While it is only week three the Sooner offensive line just needs more experience and reps to help them through the struggle of injury.
The Green Wave is currently on a 10-game win streak – the third best active streak behind Michigan and Georgia – and could pose a threat to the offense with their explosive defensive line. A key piece in Tulane’s offense is the American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, running back Makhi Hughes. Hughes has been averaging 481 yards per game for Tulane.
The Oklahoma defense has been solid through the first two weeks and they are currently tied for the national lead with eight forced turnovers and leads the nation in turnover margin.
The Sooners and Tulane will kickoff at 2:30 today in Norman.
