OU picked up a statement win on Saturday, taking down #3 Texas at the Cotton Bowl 34-30. Leading for most of the game, the Sooners surrendered the lead in the fourth quarter, as Texas kicked a go-ahead field goal with 1:17 left in the fourth.
Just when it seemed like OU was on their last gasp of air, Dillon Gabriel led a drive for the ages, taking OU 75-yards down the field. The last touchdown will live forever in OU lore, as Gabriel connected with Nic Anderson for the game winning score.
While the win was incredible and well worth the effort, OU received some disheartening news following the game.
At practice Monday night, Brent Venables informed the Media that wide receiver Andrel Anthony would miss the rest of the season. A huge loss, but luckily for OU, the depth at that position is very strong.
Look for players like Jayden Gibson, Gavin Freeman and LV Bunkley-Shelton to step up. With Nic Anderson emerging as one of the more productive receivers in the country, OU should still have enough weapons to accomplish everything ahead of them.
Dave and Rives go more in depth on their latest practice report video, which can be viewed here.
