NORMAN – For the seventh time this season, tied for the second most in SEC history, Oklahoma freshman guard Aaliyah Chavez has been named SEC Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week after leading the Sooners to a pair of ranked wins.

Chavez’s seven honors are the second most by a freshman in program history, trailing only Courtney Paris, who won the award nine times during her freshman season. Her seven selections match Vanderbilt’s Mikayla Blakes from last season and trail Kentucky’s Rhyne Howard, who earned eight in 2018-19, in the SEC record book.
