World Cup Recap 7/10/18

Belgium and France came into this game with a very high level of intensity. Both teams forged various chances to score and took turns attacking the goal. Despite the fact that Belgium kept possession for most of the first half, they were unable to finish any opportunities they created. In the first half France became quite close to scoring on a couple of encounters but their miscalculations in their shots and crosses led them going into the second half tied to Belgium nil-nil. France began the second half looking determined to score and their level of play was more aggressive. When awarded with a corner in the sixth minute of the half, Antoine Griezmann crossed the ball to Samuel Umtiti for him to head the ball into the top right corner of the net to give France the goal they had been working so hard for. This goal only fired up France more, they continuously attacked Belgium’s box but they couldn’t convert any more of their opportunities into goals. Belgium tried to come back and tie yet nevertheless they could not finish any chances they mustered up, so France will continue their journey to the World Cup final against tomorrow’s winner.
