The wait is over.

Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley put an end to the quarterback competition on Wednesday morning when he announced junior Kyler Murray as starting quarterback for the Sooners.

Coach Riley called Kyler Murray and Austin Kendall into his office Wednesday morning to break the news that Murray will get the starting QB position for the Sooners’ season opener against Florida Atlantic on Sept. 1 on their home turf.

“It was a very close one,” Riley said. “We looked at the whole body of work and just thought he was ahead of Austin [Kendall].”

Coach Riley and Murray addressed the media following the news. Watch below to see what the two had to say as Murray prepares to take the field next Saturday.
