The Minnesota Twins, 76-48 overall, swept the Texas Rangers, 60-64, in a four-game series at Globe Life Park. Texas lost the series opener 13-6. Left fielder Willie Calhoun and designated hitter Hunter Pence each hit solo home runs, Calhoun’s 11th and Pence’s 18th. Starter Pedro Payano earned his second loss after allowing eight runs, five earned, in 3 1/3 innings.
Texas lost game two 4-3. Right fielder Nomar Mazara hit a two-run double, his 27th, and a run scored on a wild pitch. Starter Mike Minor earned his seventh loss after allowing four runs, three earned, and striking out five.
Texas lost game three 12-7. Center fielder Danny Santana hit two two-run home runs, his 20th and 21st. Starter Ariel Jurado earned his ninth loss after allowing eight runs, two earned, in two innings.
Texas lost the series finale 6-3. Right fielder Shin-Soo Choo hit a solo home run, his 20th, and catcher Jeff Mathis hit a two-run single. Reliever Emmanuel Clase earned his second loss after allowing three runs in the eighth inning.
Texas will finish its seven-game homestand with a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels, 62-64, which can be heard on:
