It was a dominant night for the Oklahoma City Thunder as the Utah Jazz came to town and faced as much as a 29-point deficit ending the night with a 122-113 loss to OKC.
This was the first time these Western Conference teams with turmoil faced each other this season after the Jazz shut down the Thunder’s playoffs appearance in six games during the first round last season.
Paul George had a big night, yet again, with 31 points on 8-10 shots from the field, 5-6 from downtown, and he had four steals. He lead the Thunder to a 42-29 third quarter where he had 17 points, and the MVP chants filled Chesapeake Energy Arena as PG continued to get hot from the floor.
Russell Westbrook, while having a poor shooting night going 0-5 from 3 and 4-18 from the field, picked up his 110th career triple-double – his third consecutive – and did an excellent job controlling the ball movement finding open teammates with 10 assists. He ended with 12 points and 11 rebounds to go with his 10 assists.
The Jazz never found the lead throughout the duration of the game, and the Thunder now move to the No. 1 spot in the Western Conference standings ahead of Denver (No. 2) and Golden State (No. 3).
The Thunder are back on the road to take on the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night before facing the Nuggets again, this time in Denver, on Friday night. The Thunder return home Saturday for a back-to-back where the Los Angeles Clippers come to town to face the Thunder for the third time this season.
Watch below for a Thunder postgame wrap-up, including post-game pressers from Russell Westbrook, Paul George, Hamidou Diallo, and Steven Adams.
