The Oklahoma City Thunder Girls continued to bring holiday cheer to OKC kids by reading the Christmas classic “The Polar Express” to approximately 80 students at Sooner Elementary in Moore, Oklahoma.
This is the 8th consecutive year the Thunder Girls have visited Sooner Elementary to give young students an afternoon experiencing Christmas-like settings and have a chance to enjoy a Polar Express of their own.
Sooner Elementary staff converted an entire hallway in the school into the appearance of a train dimming the lights, lining chairs up and down the hall, hanging Christmas lights and decor on the walls, and allowing students to wear their pajamas while enjoying the Thunder Girls reading the popular Christmas story.
“It’s incredible for us to come do community appearances like this,” 4th year Thunder Girl Alicia Clifton said. “Not only do we get to meet some fans, but we also get to touch their lives. To be that person to show them that we care is really special and really important.”
Following the reading, students were escorted into the cafeteria to enjoy a cookie and juice party where the Thunder Girls gifted every student with a Thunder bag filled with items, such as a lunchbox, a t-shirt, a fidget spinner, a notebook and more.
