Oklahoma vs. Kentucky
NCAA Women’s Tournament Regional Final
Oklahoma was looking to make back-to-back Final Four appearances with a match-up against Kentucky in the Kansas City Regional Final.
It didn’t look promising early as the Wildcats jumped out to a early 10-point lead, 12-2, in the first 4 minutes of the game.
The Sooners turned up the pressure on the defensive end and chipped away at Kentucky’s lead, whittling it down to just 27-25. Kentucky, still playing well on offense, started to lapse on defense enough, to allow Oklahoma to overcome the early deficit and head to halftime with a 43-39 lead.
Coming out hot to start the second half, Oklahoma pushed the lead up to 58-44 with just under 12 minutes to play before Kentucky pulled within 8 at 58-50 with 9 minutes to go.
With both teams looking tired, it’s Oklahoma who appeared to have enough energy in their legs to make it the rest of the way and finish off the Wildcats by 20, 88-68, and punch their ticket to the Final Four.
