The Power Of Mufasa

The Power Of Mufasa

The Cowboys are at it again in the NCAA baseball postseason. One year after Utropolis, a small plastic dinosaur, brought energy and good fortune to the Oklahoma State dugout, a lion stuffed animal looks to be the inspiration to the team. Mufasa ranges from Bass Pro Shop as this year’s good luck charm in the Big 12 tournament and beyond.

The Cowboys came into the Big 12 tournament as the 8 seed going up against top seed Texas Tech, which they beat two out of three in Lubbock during the regular season. The inspirational figure was debuted the night before the Texas Tech matchup and seems to be working so far. Mufasa enjoyed a special view of the game as he accompanied Blake Stringer, who is part of the Cowboys staff.

Sophomore catcher Colin Simpson is hopeful Mufasa will inspire the whole team as continue their “Cinderella” story in the conference tournament.

“Only a few people believe in him so far,” Simpson said. “I think he’s done his job so far.”

The Cowboys are 3-0 with their unofficial mascot this postseason as enter the Big 12 title game Sunday.
