Texas Wins Weekend Series Against Cincinnati

The Texas Rangers, 38-33 overall, won two of three against the Cincinnati Reds, 31-38. Texas won the series opener 7-1. Second baseman Rougned Odor hit a grand slam, his eighth home run. Reliever Brett Martin earned his first win after two shutout innings with two strikeouts and lefty Drew Smyly earned his first save after striking out five in three innings of one-run ball.
Texas won game two 4-3. Left fielder Shin-Soo Choo, third baseman Asdrúbal Cabrera and catcher Jeff Mathis each hit RBI singles. Starter Mike Minor allowed three runs, struck out six in 6 1/3 innings to earn his sixth win and closer Shawn Kelley earned his eighth save after a shutout ninth inning.
Texas lost the series finale 11-3. Right fielder Hunter Pence hit a two-run home run, his 15th, and Choo hit a solo home run, his 12th. Starter Ariel Jurado allowed seven runs in three innings to earn his third loss.
Texas will start a seven-game homestand with a four-game series against the Cleveland Indians, 37-33, which can be heard on:
