The Texas Rangers, 27-26 overall, won a three-game series against the Seattle Mariners, 24-34, at T-Mobile Park. Texas lost the series opener 6-2. Third baseman Logan Forsythe hit a RBI double, his 13th, and first baseman Ronald Guzmán hit a solo home run, his fifth. Starter Lance Lynn earned his fourth loss after allowing three runs and striking out 10 in six innings.
Texas won game two 11-4. Right fielder Nomar Mazara hit a two-run home run, his seventh, left fielder Hunter Pence hit a two-run double, his 10th, third baseman Asdrúbal Cabrera hit a two-run single and Guzmán hit a three-run home run, his sixth. Pitcher Adrian Sampson earned his third win after allowing three runs and striking out six in five innings, which followed pitcher Jesse Chavez’s shutout first inning.
Texas won the series finale 8-7. Cabrera hit a RBI double, his seventh, and a RBI single. Pence hit a two-run triple, his first. Chavez earned his first win after striking out three in the seventh and eighth innings before closer Shawn Kelley earned his sixth save after striking out one in the ninth inning.
Texas will start a 10-game homestand with a four-game series at Globe Life Park against the Kansas City Royals, 18-37, which can be heard on:
