The Texas Rangers, 63-65 overall, won a four-game series against the Los Angeles Angels, 63-67, at Globe Life Park. Texas won the series opener 8-7. First baseman Scott Heineman hits a two-run double, the first of his career, and catcher Jose Trevino hit a solo home run, the first of his career. Reliever Rafael Montero earned his second win after not allowing a run in the 10th and 11th innings.
Texas lost game two 5-1. Left fielder Willie Calhoun hit a solo home run, his 12th. Lefty Joe Palumbo earned his second loss after allowing three runs in 1 2/3 innings.
Texas won game three 3-2. Second baseman Nick Solak hit a solo home run, the first of his career, and first baseman Danny Santana hit a RBI single before a fielding error scored Solak in the bottom of the 11th inning. Reliever Emmanuel Clase earned the first win of his career after not allowing a run in the 10th and 11th innings.
Texas won the series finale 8-7. Center fielder Delino DeShields hit a RBI double, his 13th, and a RBI single and designated hitter Hunter Pence hit a two-run single and a walk-off single. Rookie
Jonathan Hernández earned a win in his MLB debut after 2 1/3 shutout innings.
