Texas Wins Four-Game Series Against Kansas City

The Texas Rangers, 30-27 overall, won three of four against the Kansas City Royals, 19-40, at Globe Life Park. Texas lost the series opener 4-2. Left fielder Shin-Soo Choo and right fielder Nomar Mazara each hit solo home runs, Choo’s 10th and Mazara’s eighth. Although earning his fourth loss, starter Mike Minor allowed three runs and struck out eight in five innings.

Texas won game two 6-2. Center fielder Joey Gallo hit a grand slam, his 16th, shortstop Elvis Andrus hit a RBI single and Mazara earned a RBI walk. Starter Ariel Jurado earned his second win while allowing two runs and striking out six in six innings.

Texas won game three 6-2.  Gallo hit a two-run home run, his 17th, Choo hit a RBI double, Mazara hit a RBI single and catcher Jeff Mathis and Andrus each drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Starter Lance Lynn earned his seventh win while allowing two runs and striking out seven in 6 1/3 innings.

Texas won the series finale 5-1. First baseman Ronald Guzmán hit a RBI single, second baseman Rougned Odor hit a RBI double, his sixth, Mazara hit a RBI single and two runs scored on wild pitches. Starter Adrian Sampson earned his fourth win while allowing a run and striking out 11 in seven innings.

Texas will continue a 10-game homestand with a three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles, 18-41, which can be heard on:
