Texas Swept In Weekend Series Against Houston

Texas Rangers
The Houston Astros, 26-25 overall, swept the Texas Rangers, 17-21, in a four-game weekend series. Texas lost the series opener 4-2. Designated hitter Hunter Pence hit a two-run home run, his sixth, and starter Mike Minor earned his third loss after allowing three runs and striking out five in five innings.
Texas lost game two 3-0. Texas got two hits and two walks. Starter Lance Lynn earned his third loss after allowing three runs and striking out eight in seven innings.
Texas lost game three 11-4. First baseman Ronald Guzmán hit a three-run home run, his third, and Pence hit a two-run home run, his seventh. Lefty Drew Smyly earned his third loss after allowing five runs, four earned, and striking out three in 4 2/3 innings.
Texas lost the series finale 15-5. Shortstop Elvis Andrus hit a two-run home run, his sixth, and catcher Isiah Kiner-Falefa hit a solo home run, his first. Starter Adrian Sampson earned his third loss after allowing six runs, five earned, and striking out two in 3 1/2 innings.
Texas will finish its nine-game road trip with a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals, 14-27, which can be heard on:
