Texas Swept In Two-Game Series

The Pittsburgh Pirates, 14-14 overall, swept the Texas Rangers, 14-15, in a two-game series at Globe Life Park. Texas lost the series opener 6-4 in 11 innings. Center fielder Joey Gallo hit a solo home run, his 10th, and earned three walks. Starter Adrian Sampson struck out five in 5 2/3 shutout innings. Eventually, reliever Jose Leclerc allowed three runs to earn his second blown save and reliever Jesse Chavez earned his first loss after allowing three runs, two earned, in 1 2/3 innings.

Texas lost the series finale 7-5. Designated hitter Shin-Soo Choo hit a two-run home run, his 11th, first baseman Danny Santana hit a RBI double, his fifth, and a solo home run, his third, and Gallo hit a solo home run, his 11th. Starter Shelby Miller earned his second loss after allowing four runs and striking out three.

Texas will finish its five-game homestand with a three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays, 14-17, which can be heard:
