The Texas Rangers, 57-54, splits two-game series against the Detroit Tigers, 32-75, at Globe Life Park. Texas won the series opener 5-4. Designated hitter Hunter Pence hit a RBI single and a solo home run, his 16th, and second baseman Rougned Odor hit a solo home run, his 19th. Starter Lance Lynn earned his 14th win after allowing a run and striking out 10 in seven innings.
Texas won game two 5-4. Left fielder Willie Calhoun hit a solo home run, his eighth, and Odor hit a walk-off solo home run, his 20th. Closer Jose Leclerc earned his second win after pitching a scoreless 10th inning with a strikeout.
Texas won the series finale 9-4. First baseman Danny Santana hit a two-run home run, his 17th, and Calhoun hit a three-run triple, his first. Reliever Rafael Montero earned his first win after striking out one in 2 1/3 shutout innings.
Texas will start a nine-game road trip with a three-game series against the Cleveland Indians, 66-45, at Progressive Field, which can be heard on:
