The Texas Rangers, 24-23 overall, sweep the Seattle Mariners, 23-29, in a three-game series at Globe Life Park to complete a six-game homestand. Texas won the series opener 10-9. The Rangers hit five home runs, including two solo home runs from third baseman Asdrúbal Cabrera, his eighth and ninth. Starter Mike Minor earned his fifth win after allowing two runs and striking out 11 in six innings.
Texas won game two 5-3. Outfielder Joey Gallo hit a two-run home run, his 15th, and first baseman Ronald Guzmán and right fielder Nomar Mazara each hit RBI doubles, Guzmán’s sixth and Mazara’s 10th. Starter Lance Lynn earned his sixth win after allowing two runs and striking out 11 in seven innings before closer Shawn Kelley earned his third save after allowing a run in the ninth inning.
Texas won the series finale 2-1. Designated hitter Hunter Pence hit a solo home run, his 10th, and Mazara hit a RBI double, his 11th. Following a five-out opening appearance from pitcher Jesse Chavez, pitcher Adrian Sampson earned his second win after allowing a run and striking out five in 5 1/3 innings. Then, Kelley earned his fourth save after striking out two in the ninth.
Texas will start a six-game road trip with a three-game weekend series against the Los Angeles Angels, 22-26, which can be heard on:
