Texas Splits Series Against Arizona, Heading To Oakland

The Texas Rangers, 6-6 overall, split a two-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-6. Texas lost the series opener 5-4. Shortstop Elvis Andrus got two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Starter Mike Minor struck out five and allowed two runs in seven innings. Then, closer Jose Leclerc allowed three runs in the bottom of the ninth to earn his first blown save.

Texas won the series finale 5-2. Three Rangers got two hits and right fielder Hunter Pence hit a solo home run, his first. Starter Lance Lynn earned his first win after allowing a run and striking out nine. Then, rookie Kyle Bird earned his first-career save after striking out one in 2/3 innings.

Texas will face the Oakland Athletics, 8-8, for a three-game weekend series. These games can be heard on:
