The Texas Rangers, 40-35 overall, split a four-game series against the Cleveland Indians, 39-35, at Globe Life Park. Texas won the series opener 7-2. Right fielder Danny Santana hit a two-run home run, his fifth, amd shortstop Elvis Andrus hit a two-run double, his 17th. Starter Lance Lynn earned his eighth win after allowing a run and striking out nine in seven innings.
Texas lost game two 10-3. Second baseman Rougned Odor hit a solo home run, his ninth, and left fielder Willie Calhoun hit a two-run home run, his third. Starter Adrian Sampson earned his fourth win after allowing five runs, three earned, and striking out four in three innings.
Texas lost game three 10-4. Third baseman Asdrúbal Cabrera hit a solo home run, his 11th, and a RBI double, his 11, and Santana hit a solo home run, his sixth. Starter Joe Palumbo earned his first loss after allowing seven runs and striking out one in two innings.
Texas won the series opener 4-2. Andrus hit a RBI triple, his third, and hit a solo home run, his seventh, and Santana hit a solo home run, his seventh. Starter Mike Minor allowed a run and struck out four in eight innings to earn his seventh win and closer Shawn Kelley earned his ninth save after striking out one and allowing a run in the ninth inning.
