Texas Split A Four-Game Series To Finish Road Trip

The Rangers, 14-13 overall, split a four-game series against the Seattle Mariners, 18-13, and lost the series opener 14-2. Right fielder Nomar Mazara hit a RBI single and first baseman Logan Forsythe earned a RBI walk. Rookie Taylor Hearn allowed five runs, four earned in a 1/3-inning start to earn the loss in his MLB debut.

Texas lost game two 5-4. Mazara hit a two-run home run, his fifth, and a RBI double, his fourth. Pinch hitter Shin-Soo Choo hit a solo home run, his second. Starter Shelby Miller allowed four runs and struck out four in five innings and reliever Kyle Dowdy allowed a run in 1/3 innings to earn his first loss.

Texas won game three 15-1. Two Rangers got three hits and Forsythe got four hits. Four Rangers drove in three, including Forsythe. Starter Mike Minor allowed one run and struck out 13 in seven innings to earn his third win.

Texas won the series finale 14-1. Three Rangers got three hits, including left fielder Hunter Pence, who drove in four with a RBI single, a RBI double, his third, and a two-run home run, his third. Starter Lance Lynn allowed a run and struck out nine in seven innings to earn his third win.

Texas will return home to start a five-game homestand with a two-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, 12-14, which can be heard on:
