Texas Split A Four-Game Series Against Houston

The Texas Rangers, 50-44 overall, split a four-game series against the Houston Astros, 59-35. Texas won the series opener 5-0. Left fielder Joey Gallo hit a RBI double, his 15th, and second baseman Rougned Odor hit a two-run double, his 15th. Starter Lance Lynn earned his 12th win after throwing seven shutout innings and striking out 11.

Texas won game two 9-8. Center fielder Danny Santana hit a solo home run, his 10th, and a RBI single. Right fielder Shin-Soo Choo hit a solo home run, his 14th, and Gallo hit a solo home run, his 21st. Closer Shawn Kelley earned his fifth win after a shutout ninth inning.

Texas lost game three 7-6.  Center fielder Delino DeShields hit a solo home run, his third, and a RBI single. Choo and Santana each hit solo home runs, Choo’s 15th and Santana’s 11th. Reliever Brett Martin earned his first loss after allowing two runs in 1 2/3 innings.

Texas lost the series finale 12-4. Texas hit three RBI singles and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Starter Ariel Jurado earned his fifth loss after allowing five runs and striking out three in four innings.

Texas will finish its six-game homestand with a two-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, 47-47, which can be heard on:
