The Texas Rangers (62-84) lost two of three against the Los Angeles Angels (73-74) at Angel Stadium.
Left fielder Joey Gallo hit a two-run double, his 23rd, and first baseman Ronald Guzman hit a two-run home run, his 15th, in the second inning of the series opener. Finally, Gallo hit a RBI single in the eighth. Texas won 5-2.
Lefty Mike Minor allowed a run, two walks and struck out three in six innings to earn his 12th win. Then, the bullpen allowed one unearned run, a walk and struck out three in three innings, which included closer José Leclerc earning his 10th save.
Texas was shutout in game two and was limited to two hits. Texas lost 1-0.
Starter Adrian Sampson allowed one run, a walk and struck out two in five innings before the bullpen pitched three scoreless innings with a walk and two strikeouts.
Gallo hit a solo home run, his 36th, in the seventh inning of the series finale. Texas lost 8-1.
Starter Yovani Gallardo allowed six runs, a walk and struck out four runs before the bullpen allowed two runs, two walks and struck out five.
Texas will finish its nine-game road trip with a three-game series against the San Diego Padres (59-88) at Petco Park.
