Texas Is Not so Strong

Texas Is Not so Strong

Big-12-Texas“Oh No, We Suck Again!” That’s what Texas fans have been saying for the entire Charlie Strong era. And they couldn’t be more right. The Longhorns are 1-4 and finding all sorts of ways to lose. Texas has been buried by Notre Dame and TCU. And they came up short to OSU and Cal due to special teams blunders. You have go back to 1956 when Ed Price coached The Horns to a 1-9 season to find a start this dismal in Austin. Yeah, pre Darrell Royal days. If all goes according to plan on Saturday OU will add to the Texas misery. Bob Stoops was asked about taking this game for granted with so many counting the Longhorns out . ” We know better than that, we’re the ones that still have to go play more than anything it’s about us improving.” Stoops does know better, in 2013 his Sooners were a double digit favorite and lost 36-20. OU needs to put the gas down early. Texas is a dumpster fire, and it won’t be long before Strong loses his team, if he hasn’t already. Players were on social media at halftime of the TCU game responding to tweets about transferring, if that is the mindset during a game how can Strong have their attention at practice? Still, it is a rivalry game and a win vs. The Sooners could ease some Texas pain. OU quarterback Baker Mayfield is saying all the right things “I know they’re not playing like Texas football usually did, but you can’t go in there and take em lightly.” They’re going to come in ready to play just because they hate us.” For Charlie Stong’s sake, his team had better use that hate to drive them or Saturday could be long and painful just like the rest of this season.
