Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em- Week 3

On to Week 3 of the NFL season!

The Franchise is here to help you with your weekly fantasy matchups and lead your team to fantasy glory. Here is your Week 3 Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em.

Start ‘Em

Matt Ryan @ New Orleans Saints- After the first two week of the NFL season, the top fantasy performer is…Matt Ryan. You heard me right. Through the first two weeks, the Saints have averaged 336 passing yards given up a game. Ryan has performed very well at the Superdome the last four years. Go with Matt Ryan.

Joe Flacco @ Jacksonville Jaguars- Flacco played a decent game against the Browns last week throwing for 302 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. It looks like Flacco has found a good connection with Mike Wallace as well as his tight end, Dennis Pitta. The Ravens will be taking on Jacksonville who gave up four touchdowns to Phillip Rivers and the Chargers last week.

Ryan Tannehill vs. Cleveland Browns- Tannehill had a great fantasy game last week against the Patriots albeit the Dolphins fell behind very quickly and had to throw the ball to catch up. Tannehill threw for 389 yards, 2 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and finished with 22 fantasy points. Tannehill has an enticing matchup against the Cleveland Browns at home. Give Tannehill a go.

Sit ‘Em

Andy Dalton vs. Denver Broncos- You’ll probably be seeing a lot of quarterbacks in the Sit ‘Em spot when playing the Denver Broncos. Dalton had a good week against the Steelers putting up 19 fantasy points. The Broncos have given up the second-least passing yards a game so far this season. Don’t ride the Red Rifle this week.

Tyrod Taylor vs. Arizona Cardinals- Taylor had a better fantasy week against the Jets in Week 2. But he is going up against the solid Cardinals defense that is tied with the Carolina Panthers for the most interceptions in the league through two weeks. Opposing quarterbacks against the Cardinals will have a tough go this season.

Russell Wilson vs. San Francisco 49ers- Maybe a surprise right here. Russell Wilson has been struggling so far this season which comes as an issue with a lot of fantasy owners who drafted him high in their drafts. The 49ers defense has been playing better than most expected so far. The Niners are currently 12th in the league for passing defense. The Seahawks have put up 15 points combined against the Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Rams so far this season. If you have a better streaming option this week, I say go for it.

Running Backs

Start ‘Em

Melvin Gordon vs. Indianapolis Colts- Melvin Gordon is looking to be a steal for most fantasy owners and where they drafted him this season. With Danny Woodhead now out for the season with a torn ACL, Gordon is all the Chargers really have at running back. Gordon’s touches will increase which should make him a viable RB1 in most leagues. The Chargers take on the Colts have given up the most fantasy points to opposing running backs though two weeks.

LeGarrette Blount vs. Houston Texans- Blount had a great fantasy day against the Miami Dolphins putting up 193 yards and two touchdowns. With the injury of Jimmy Garoppolo, Jacoby Brissett steps in as the quarterback for the Patriots. Expect Bill Belichick to rely on the running game to help his rookie quarterback. Blount had 29 carries last week. Expect that to be around the same this week.

DeMarco Murray vs. Oakland Raiders- Murray is sitting as the eighth best fantasy running back. The Titans offense gets a great matchup against a defense that has given up over 1,000 total yards through two games. The Raiders have also given up an average of 20 fantasy points to opposing running backs. Roll with DeMarco this week.

Sit ‘Em

Carlos Hyde vs. Seattle Seahawks- Hyde had a very disappointing week against the Carolina Panthers with only 2 fantasy points which included a fumble. For a lot opposing running backs that go into Seattle, there always seems to be a struggle. Seattle’s defense is first in the league in total defense, allowing just 248 yards a game. Seattle is also third in rushing defense allowing just 64 yards a game. Find other options this week if you have Carlos Hyde.

Jeremy Hill vs. Denver Broncos- Hill hasn’t been a fantasy hit so far this season. He’s only rushed for a 53 yards on 20 carries so far through two games. The Bengals are now going into Week 3 against the Denver Broncos. The Broncos haven’t been the greatest rushing defense so far this season but they will create turnovers and Hill has been prone to fumbling. Also, Giovanni Bernard has been getting more touches than Jeremy Hill. Keep Hill on your bench for a better matchup.

Ryan Mathews vs. Pittsburgh Steelers- Mathews was getting a lot of touches during Week 1 against the Browns and then in Week 2 last week there was a big drop off. The Steelers defense is currently second in rushing defense holding teams to 50 yards a game. Last year, Pittsburgh allowed just four rushing touchdowns to running backs, and only two running backs had more than 100 rushing yards. I don’t see a big fantasy day for Mr. Mathews.

Wide Receivers

Start ‘Em

Larry Fitzgerald @ Buffalo Bills- Age hasn’t hampered Fitzy from producing on the field and for fantasy owners. The Cardinals offense has been rolling so far this season and Fitzgerald has been an important part of it. The Cardinals are going on the road taking on the Buffalo Bills who have a depleted defense. Fitzgerald should get his opportunity again to add to his touchdown total already at 3.

Marvin Jones @ Green Bay Packers- Jones has been a solid fantasy wide receiver so far this season but his production has been without any touchdowns. He’s had 4 catches for 85 yards against the Colts and 8 catches for 118 yards against the Titans. The Packers defense has some injuries in the secondary that could expose them with the Lions aerial attack. Go with Jones this week.
