Sooners named Big 12 Title favorites for fifth straight year

Sooners named Big 12 Title favorites for fifth straight year

NORMAN- The more things change, the more they stay the same.

For the fifth consecutive season, the Oklahoma Sooners have been voted number one in the Big 12 Preseason Poll.

The five-time defending champions take the top spot despite losing three first round draft picks and having to replace their starting quarterback and leading wide receiver from last season.

A testament to the quarterback play out of the Sooners under head coach Lincoln Riley, Oklahoma received all but 10 first place votes before a new quarterback has been named the starter.

The Sooners led the conference with five selections to the All-Conference team yesterday, with freshman Spencer Rattler also being named the Newcomer of the Year.

Oklahoma has dominated the Big 12 under both Riley and Bob Stoops, with Riley posting a record of 24-3 against conference foes in his first three seasons in charge of the Sooners.

Goals are high as always in Norman, OK. with sights set on a sixth straight conference crown.
