The Oklahoma Sooners landed four-star defensive back Bryson Washington on Thursday, narrowly beating out their rivals the Texas Longhorns for the coveted safety.

Despite being thought of as a lock to commit to Texas, the Sooners first year defensive coordinator Alex Grinch is ultimately what pried Washington away from the Longhorns. The Houston product was heavily projected to go with the Longhorns early in his recruitment, and made several trips to UT, one within just weeks of his commitment to Oklahoma.
At 6’3”, 192 lbs, Washington will have ample opportunities to make an impact for the Sooners defense when he arrives in Norman.
Washington is now the third defensive back to commit to the Sooners 2020 class in the last three weeks. Dontae Manning and Ryan Watts both committed to the Sooners in late June.
Following Washington’s commitment, the Sooners 2020 class is ranked No. 16 in the country with 8 four-star and 6 three-star commits according to Rivals.
