Softball: #10 Sooners struggle vs NDSU, eliminate ARK

Oklahoma hosted North Dakota State in the second game of the opening day of the Norman Regional.

The Big 12 regular and tournament champs found themselves down 2-0 in the 1st against North Dakota State “Bizon.” Weather delayed the game until the next day at 1:30 PM where the Sooners resumed play with 1 out and a 2-2 count.

Oklahoma out hit NDSU but were unable to make it translate to runs and they fell 3-2. This sent them to the losers bracket against Arkansas who lost on a walk off home run to Tulsa in the first game of Session 1.

In the night cap and facing elimination the defending National Champions fought off a pesky Razorbacks squad and not without some on field drama.

In the opening stanza Oklahoma jumped out 2-0 as the visiting team but Arkansas responded with three runs of their own.

The score would stand at 3-2 but only for a short while. In the top of the second Aviu got Arnold in from third to tie the game at 3.

From there OU was methodical and held off Arkansas. Arnold was hit home again in the fourth inning and a big bounce off the ground from Knighten toward third got Arnold across the plate again to reach the final 5-3 score.

They face NDSU again today in elimination game at 1:30. Should Oklahoma win they will face undefeated Tulsa in the Regional Championship. Follow @OU_Softball for more information.
