The Texas Rangers (15-24) won two of three against the Detroit Tigers (15-21) at Globe Life Park.
Right fielder Nomar Mazara hit a solo home run, his eighth, in the second inning of game one. In the sixth, left fielder Joey Gallo and second baseman Isiah Kiner-Falefa each hit a RBI double before first baseman Ronald Guzman hit a RBI single. Then, designated hitter Shin-Soo Choo hit a RBI single before shortstop Jurickson Profar hit a RBI triple, his second, in the seventh. Texas won 7-6.
Lefty Matt Moore pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowed five runs, walked two and struck out five. Then, four relievers followed Moore’s start, including closer Keone Kela, who earned his seventh save with a scoreless ninth.
Profar started game two for the Rangers with a solo home run, his second, in the fifth before third baseman Adrian Beltre hit a RBI single in the sixth. In the eighth, Choo hit a RBI double, his eighth, before Beltre hit another RBI single. Texas lost 7-4.
Lefty Mike Minor pitched seven innings, allowed five runs and struck out four before two relievers pitched the eighth and ninth.
Beltre started the series finale with a RBI single in first. Then, Kiner-Falefa hit a RBI triple, his first of the season, before Beltre hit a sacrifice fly in the third. In the seventh, Mazara hit a solo home run, his ninth, before he hit a walk-off solo home run in the 10th. Texas won 5-4.
Starter Bartolo Colon pitched five innings, allowed three runs, two earned runs, walked one and struck out four. Then, five relievers followed Colon to seal the series win.
The Rangers will start a nine-game road trip with a three-game road trip against the Houston Astros (24-15) at Minute Maid Park.
