Rangers Win Series Against The Astros, To Head To Oakland

The Texas Rangers, 12-8 overall, won a three-game weekend series against the Houston Astros, 13-8. Texas lost the series opener 7-2. Second baseman Danny Santana hit a solo home run, his first and left fielder Joey Gallo hit a solo home run, his seventh. Starter Drew Smyly struck out eight and allowed four runs in 3 2/3 innings.
Texas won game two 9-4. Third baseman Asdrúbal Cabrera drove in three with two singles and Gallo hit a solo home run, his eighth. Starter Adrian Sampson struck out three and allowed two runs in 4 1/3 innings. Reliever Shawn Kelley earned his third win after pitching 1 2/3 shutout innings.
Texas won the series finale 11-10. Gallo had two hits and drove in five. Starter Shelby Miller allowed four runs, three earned, and struck out three to earn his first win as a Ranger. Eventually, Kelley earned his first save after retiring the final batter.
Texas will start a seven-game road trip with a three-game series against the Oakland Athletics, 11-13, which can be heard on:
