The Texas Rangers (66-89) won two of three against the Seattle Mariners (85-70) at Globe Life Park.
Third baseman Adrian Beltre started the series opener with a three-run home run, his 14th, in the first inning. In the third, Beltre hit a two-run home run before outfielder Joey Gallo earned a RBI walk. Then, first baseman Jurickson Profar hit a RBI double, his 35th, in the fourth before Gallo hit a solo home run, his 38th, in the sixth. Texas won 8-3 in seven innings.
The pitching staff allowed three runs, three walks and struck out two in 6 2/3 innings.
Texas was shutout and limited to three hits in game two. Texas lost 13-0.
Lefty Mike Minor allowed three runs, three walks and struck out four in 4 2/3 innings. The bullpen allowed 10 runs, nine earned, three walks and struck out three in 3 1/3 innings.
Right fielder Nomar Mazara hit a two-run double, his 24th, in the sixth of the series finale. Later in the inning, catcher Robinson Chirinos hit a RBI single before center fielder Carlos Tocci drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Finally, Gallo hit a two-run home run, his 39th, in the eighth. Texas won 6-1.
Lefty Martin Pérez struck out one in four innings of one-run ball. Then, the bullpen allowed two walks and struck out three in five scoreless innings.
Texas will start its final road series with a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels (75-81) at Angel Stadium.
