Rangers Sweep The Angels, To Finish Homestand Against Houston

The Texas Rangers, 10-7 overall, sweep the Los Angeles Angels, 8-10, in a three-game series. Texas won the series opener 12-7. Designated hitter Shin-Soo Choo and left fielder Joey Gallo each hit a solo home run, Choo’s first and Gallo’s fifth, and third baseman Asdrúbal Cabrera hit a two-run home run, his fifth. Starter Shelby Miller allowed four runs in 4 1/3 innings. Then, rookie Kyle Dowdy earned his first win after allowing a run and striking out one in 2 2/3 innings before closer Jose Leclerc earned his fourth save after getting the final out.
Texas won game two 5-0. Right fielder Nomar Mazara hit a RBI double, his second, before Cabrera and Gallo each hit two-run home runs. Lefty Mike Minor earned his second win with seven strikeouts and a complete-game shutout.
Texas won the series finale 5-4. Choo hit a two-run triple, his second, and second baseman Danny Santana hit a RBI double, his first. Starter Lance Lynn struck out two and allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings. After three relievers earned a hold, Leclerc earned his fifth save after striking out two and allowing a run.
Texas will conclude its nine-game homestand with a three-game weekend series against the Houston Astros, 12-6, which can be heard on:
