Penguins win the Stanley Cup.

Penguins win the Stanley Cup.

In what turned out to be a fantastic cup final, the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the San Jose Sharks, 3-1 inside SAP Center in San Jose, to claim their 4th Stanley Cup Championship, knocking off the Sharks 4 games to 2. The Penguins were the faster team from the start of the finals and outlasted the Sharks bruising style of play, remaining the hottest team since late in the season, carrying the momentum straight to a championship. The Pens forwards and offensive lines were great, but may have even been overshadowed by what was an underwhelming defensive unit from the start of the playoffs, stepping up huge, keeping the Sharks at bay for most of the finals.  The loss for the Sharks ended what was a dream playoff run for San Jose who skated in their first Stanley Cup Final in the franchise’s 25th year.
