Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray and running back Kennedy Brooks were awarded Big 12 Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday.

Murray was named Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season. He tied Baker Mayfield’s single-season record after only seven games. The redshirt junior was 19-of-24 through the air for 213 yards and four touchdowns. He rushed nine times for 51 yards.

Brooks steered the offense, rushing for 168 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. His rushing total was the highest by an OU freshman since Samaje Perine ran for 427 yards against Kansas in 2014 to set the FBS single-game record. Brooks didn’t register a carry in the first quarter but found the end zone on a 21-yard run to put the Sooners up 21-7 early in the second quarter.

He had at least six carries of 11 yards.

Murray, Brooks and the Sooners (6-1 overall, 3-1 Big 12) return to action Saturday when Kansas State visits Norman. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
