NORMAN — Oklahoma sophomore cornerback Parnell Motley has been one of the biggest storylines in spring practice as he’s emerged as a legitimate threat to earn a spot in the starting lineup this fall.
Thursday, during the Sooners’ final spring football practice, Motley once again showed his playmaking abilities by picking off a Baker Mayfield pass near the goal line.
“Parnell has had a great spring,” OU coach Bob Stoops said. “Got a ton of confidence in him right now.
“We liked him all fall. Parnell, even though Jordan (Parker) had the position, Parnell had done a lot in practice and looked good and was prepared to play more had we needed him to.”
Sooners defensive coordinator Mike Stoops said Motley’s emerging consistency has him feeling more confident in his secondary.
“He’s a guy that could be a playmaker for us,” Mike Stoops said. “He has a knack for doing that.
