STILLWATER – Homecoming calls for a throwback.

When No. 6 Texas and Oklahoma State take the field at 7 p.m. Saturday night, the Cowboys’ uniforms will be a tribute to Barry Sanders and the 1988 team.

Sanders won the Heisman Trophy 30 seasons ago. He and the War Pigs, his offensive line from that season, are serving as the OSU Homecoming grand marshals.

In previous seasons, OSU has wore throwback helmets to commemorate its football history. This season, the uniforms will resemble a look back at OSU in the late 80s.

The helmet is white with an orange throwback OSU logo. The orange jersey has white numerals with Oklahoma State on the chest. A special Barry Sanders patch is on the right side. The pants are white with orange stripes on the sides.

Mike Gundy on the uniforms: “I guess it’s good stuff. I was unaware of that. I didn’t know it was a throwback. I’m usually the last to know on that.

“I’ll be excited to see it.”
