The Oklahoma State Cowboys (23-14-1) swept the Kansas Jayhawks (19-20) in a three-game series at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
Second baseman Andrew Rosa hit a two-run single in the third inning of game one and then scored on a passed ball. Then, first baseman Chrisitian Funk started his seven-RBI game with a RBI double. In the next inning, third baseman Michael Neustifter hit a solo home run. Then, OSU finished its six-run fourth with a run-scoring wild pitch before Funk hit a grand slam. Three innings later, Funk finished his day with a two-run home run. OSU won 12-1.
Lefty Carson Teel pitched seven innings of one-run ball with six strikeouts.
Funk started the scoring for game two with a RBI single in the first. In the sixth, Neustifter scored on a balk, Rosa hit a RBI single and left fielder Jon Littell earned a RBI with a hit by pitch. OSU won 4-3.
Starter Joe Lienhard earned his fourth win with 7 1/3 innings of one-run all, which included four walks and eight strikeouts. Then, reliever Brady Basso retired a hitter before right Peyton Battenfield earned a four-out save.
Littell drove in the first run for OSU in the series finale with a seventh-inning RBI single before center fielder Trevor Boone hit a three-run double. OSU won 4-3.
Starter Jonathan Heasley pitched six innings of three-run ball, which included a walk and five strikeouts before reliever C.J. Valera pitched three scoreless innings to earn his fourth win.
OSU’s next game will be against the Dallas Baptist Patriots (25-12) on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
