Oklahoma State Loses Series Against Kansas

The Cowboys, 21-13 overall, lost two of three against the Kansas Jayhawks, 19-16. OSU won the series opener 27-6. OSU hit 12 home runs and two players each hit three, third baseman Christian Funk and center fielder Trevor Boone. Funk and Boone each got four hits and drove in at least five runs. Starter Jensen Elliot struck out three and allowed six runs, five earned, in six innings before reliever Nate Peterson struck out four in three shutout innings to earn his first save.
OSU lost game two 5-4. Funk hit a two-run home run and left fielder Colin Simpson hit a solo home run. Starter Joe Lienhard allowed three runs and struck out three in three innings. Eventually, reliever Logan Gragg earned the loss after allowing a run in 1 1/3 innings.
OSU lost the series finale 7-6. Funk hit a three-run home run and RBI single and shortstop Andrew Navigato hit a solo home run. Starter Brett Standlee allowed two run, one earned, and struck out four in six innings before closer Ben Leeper earned the loss after allowing two runs in the 10th inning.
OSU will host the Dallas Baptist Patriots, 25-10, on Tuesday at 6:05 p.m.
