OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma State Cowboys and the TCU Horned Frogs kick off Sunday at the Bricktown Ballpark with a 9 a.m. rematch following TCU snapping OSU’s 2-0 run in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Tournament yesterday at 13-6.
The Cowboys defeated the Horned Frogs in the opening round of the tournament on Thursday at 5-2 where starting pitcher for the Pokes Parker Scott held TCU to one run through six innings.
The Cowboys would go on to defeat defending tournament champions Baylor at 5-0 led by junior Jensen Elliott and relieved by junior Peyton Battenfield keeping the Bears off the board completely.
TCU would face Oklahoma in the losers bracket eliminating the Sooners at 15-3 after a 14-run fourth inning.
As many Oklahomans know this time of year, weather can play a major toll on outdoor activities and the safety of citizens, so with tornado threats last night in the OKC metro, OSU and TCU finished their game where the Horned Frogs defeated the Cowboys 13-6, and the championship-determining game was postponed until this morning at 9 a.m.
Junior RHP Jake Lyons takes the mound for the Cowboys today, while RHP Jake Eissler will pitch for the Horned Frogs, and the winner of this game will turn right back around the play West Virginia in the title game at 1 p.m.
The loser will go home.
