The Oklahoma Sooners (25-11) beat the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles (17-14) 20-3 Tuesday night at L. Dale Mitchell Park at Norman.
OU center fielder Kyler Murray and third baseman Brylie Ware started OU’s scoring with a back-to-back RBI singles in first inning. Later in the inning, designated Cade Cavalli continued the five-run rally with a two-run double before catcher Domenic DeRenzo drove in the fifth run with a sacrifice fly. In the next inning, outfielder Cade Harris hit a solo home run before Ware hit a two-run single. Later in the second, second baseman Kyle Mendenhall hit a RBI single before DeRenzo hit a two-run single. Two innings later, Mendenhall drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. In the fifth, shortstop Brandon Zaragoza hit a RBI single before outfielder Steele Walker hit a RBI double. Later in the inning, Murray hit a two-run double, Mendenhall hit a RBI single and DeRenzo drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Finally, Walker hit a two-run home run in the sixth to finish OU’s 20-run game.
OU starter Lane Ramsey pitched two innings of one-run ball, which included three walks and two walks to earn his second win. Following Ramsey’s start, righty Dylan Grove pitched three innings of one-run ball before relievers Ryan Madden and Aaron Brooks combined for three scoreless innings. Finally, freshman Jake Terry finished the game with a one-run ninth.
OU will stay in Norman to host the University of Texas Longhorns (22-13) for a three-game series April 13-15.
