You can tailgate on Lindsey Street in Norman again; Updated tailgating areas

UPDATE: August 31st

Oklahoma has updated their tailgating map once again. Ton of new areas are available to the public:

Oklahoma has updated their tailgating policy and has removed tailgating on Lindsey Street south of the stadium. The new Residential Colleges currently reside just south of Lindsey Street, but the sidewalks and grass area remain intact. Here is the new map for tailgating:

The policy for setting up a tailgate has not changed–

“The setting up of tents, awnings, and similar equipment may commence at 12 noon on the day immediately preceding the game, most typically on Friday for a Saturday game. Space may be occupied between 8 a.m. and noon, but stakes may NOT go into the ground until 12 noon. Space may NOT be occupied or reserved before 8 a.m. All items must be taken down and removed by 12 noon on the day immediately following the game, typically Sunday. Abandoned tents may be at risk of damage or theft.

Tents, awnings, and similar equipment must be securely anchored. Stakes may not be longer than 12 inches to avoid interfering with underground utilities. Tents must be set up no closer than 3 feet from either side of pedestrian walkways. Tents must be set up no closer than 10 feet from any University building. Tents larger than 400 square feet require a permit, contact Fire@ou.edu.”

The old tailgating grounds stretched from Asp Avenue to Jenkins Avenue on Lindsey Street. The new Residential Colleges took away the old parking lot areas and lawns many tailgated on. They did add a new “reserved” area that is contracted out to a company and is not currently open to the public.

Oklahoma’s Official Athletics Twitter account stated that the changes to the policy were based “on a University policy”.
